Precision Custom Coatings is one of the worlds leading producers of value-added fabrics for the apparel industry and industrial markets. They have offices located around the world from Totowa NJ to Beijing China. This modern day American success story started out a little more than 20 years ago with humble beginnings. PCC now does more than 100 million in business annually across the globe. PCC came to Web Inspired looking for a bit of a web face lift.
The client had an existing website that had been around for a number of years. The site had not had its content updated in a while and need to have its look modernized. As always they wanted a custom web site that would be SEO friendly and easy to use. Keeping the site simple, they wanted a website viewable on mobile devices as well as desktops, everything had to look good and function on the iPad (no flash).
During the client consultation we discovered that ease of navigation was a major concern. From a feature standpoint they wanted to keep the website simple. We would have to develop a custom solution to show their distribution locations, a way to show video cross platform and they wanted a nice looking contact form. We also learned that the client had an existing relationship with a hosting company that only offered ASP so we would have to put away our Java hats and pull out our .NET hats.
As always we started with a custom design that would reinforce the corporate identity. We started with the logo, cleaning up all the angles and curves used as well as modernizing it by adding some gradient coloring. We then built a beautiful design from the rich blue that is the clients corporate color scheme. Lastly we actively used a globe motif to accentuate the fact that PCC is a global player.
The distribution page needed a custom jQuery enabled map that would allow the user to click on a distribution center and then see that centers contact information. We knew we could not use flash, so we built a light weight custom jQuery solution. You can view the custom jQuery distribution map android as well as apple mobile devices (its iPad safe).
Cross platform video presentation was also a concern. Although the clients current video library is currently modest they wanted to make sure adding video in the future would be easy. This video had to be playable cross platform. The major concern was playing video on iPads. We built them a super simple HTML 5 solution. The result is great looking video on all platforms without using flash
Lastly we had to build a web contact form using .NET instead of our beloved Java. The only request for the form was that it be easy to use and look good. There is nothing worse than a terrible looking contact form. We built them a big beautiful form using there colors and using .NETS client side validation makes it very easy to use.
The final product was a gorgeous custom website design that's easy to update, easy to use and very search engine friendly. The client was very happy with the finished product and they are already seeing a drastic increase in traffic to the site. Pcc received many client inquiries from the website the first week!
As you can see the previous design was quite dated. The blues that where used for the design where not the corporate colors. We felt the page was a bit too narrow. We also wanted to clean up the imagery being used.
The new custom website is simply stunning. The logo now looks very clean and "precise". The blue used throughout the template is true to the companies corprate identity. This really is a beautiful website.
New Project: Fire & Oak .comOur new client, the South City Group needed a website for Fire & Oak, which is a restaurant with 2 locations, one in Jersey City and one in Montvale NJ. They needed an improvement on their previous website, which while nice, was a flash prebuilt template. The previous designer did a great job filling in this template but like most flash only sites it was mostly style and not substance. Also the website which has ton of inbound links had a very poor search engine presence. This was most likely due to the fact that the site was 100 percent flash. - read article ![]() |
For java logging - we love LOG4jHere at Web Inspired we right a lot of java. We are not big fans of php (it scares us from a security standpoint). We substitute jsf for php. We feel jsf is superior because the pages are backed by object oriented java code. We use log4 j to handle our logging. We like log4j because it is very easy to set up, it's customizable and it just works. - read article ![]() |
